Stacey M. Edwards has practiced estate and elder law in New Jersey since 1999. She was admitted to the New Jersey State Bar the week her son turned one, and the year before her daughter was born. Family was never an abstract concept in her work.

She began her legal career in 1998 with a Juris Doctor from Seton Hall School of Law, where she was an Associate Editor of the Legislative Journal. Before law school she studied political science at High Point University and earned a Master of Science in Justice from The American University. Her cross-disciplinary background — family law, real estate, election law, municipal government, public defense — meant that when she found her way to elder law, she brought a wider lens than most.

The firm she founded grew from a sole practice into a ten-person team operating from a four-thousand-square-foot office in Watchung. That growth is recent, and it is intentional. She believes that the work of estate and elder law — sensitive, often urgent, always personal — does not scale by hiring more lawyers; it scales by hiring the right people and giving them the room to do the work well.

In 2012, Stacey was admitted to the Supreme Court of the United States. In 2025, she was admitted to the New York State Bar. She is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA), the premier professional organization in her field. She served as Co-Editor of the Somerset County Bar Association's Clarion newsletter from 2014 to 2019, and as Co-Chair of the Estates, Trust and Elder Law Committee in 2013–14. She is also an Accredited Veterans Benefits Attorney.

She lectures regularly to caregivers, professional groups, and members of the public on estate and elder law topics. Her practice philosophy is simple, and it has not changed since 1999: no writing equals no rights. The consequences of not putting your wishes in writing — for your healthcare, your money, your children — are too expensive to leave to chance.

Her favorite saying: A setback is only an opportunity for a comeback.
